A simple breakdown of the artistic process and steps during a mural installation by Keef paints .
THE SKETCH . It is very important to always prepare a sketch to present to your potential new customer . The sketch is your safety net so that you will be able to go back and show the customer what it is you promised them and can save you from having the customer think of “you know what else would look cool!”s during the installation . My sketches usually consist of a loose napkin or torn off book page with minimal scribbles on it . I like to use a lot of hand gestures while presenting the sketch and keep eye contact with the customer the entire time until they say yes . 99 % of the time I have no fucking clue how their wall is going to look let alone will I be able to portray on a 4 inch piece of paper what I plan on doing to their 20 foot wall . So yes the sketch is VERY important to always have prepared!
Now that you have suckered the new client into believing that you know what you are doing, now is the point where you can actually begin on your sketch !
One of the most important rules of using your art is to always MILK IT ! ”What can I get for free” should be your second highest thought rite under “what the hell am I going to paint” in this case the year was 2013 and vape pens just came out and we’re a fucking HIT ! I know it looks like cheap plastic now but believe me in 2013 this was the the shit .
Another great tool is to be able to use social media to share your work and the process instantly with all your friends and followers. As you can see the lay out of instagrams home page was a bit more simpler back in 13’ and things have evolved much more since then .
If body painting strippers half way through your mural happens …. just go with it . I’ve got some better pics somewhere on my old Mac but think I’ll keep those off air . Yah back to the mural .
Professional mural installations should always be treated as a great opportunity to invite all of your friends over to create a greater “inspirational” atmosphere . Above is the directions sent .
Blocking in more colors and filling negative spaces , just paint !
Funny story , we killed the big bottle of jack on the first night painting, everyone was wrecked the next morning….night 2 of the mural someone picks up a second bottle as a joke …… second bottle finished that night also.
